Journey Cycle 2 Week 5

Hi Everyone!
Wow Week 5 was SO much fun! The kids were so engaged and enthusiastic! But I guess with all the wiggling around, laughing and singing we do, how can they not be???

Thanks so much to Mr. Herson for more great science experiments this morning! They were so much fun and the kids really understood the concepts. Can't beat the hands-on nature of these sessions for our kiddos.

Before I get to the new grammar, one piece of business and a reminder.....
We worked really hard on our art projects today, and some needed extra time to finish them at home (they wanted to take their time and do them well rather than rush - BRAVO!)
SO Moms, can you PLEASE make sure they come back on week 6 (10/23)???

And remember - we have a break next week - so, unless I see you at the Ren Faire, I'll see you all again on the 21st! Don't want you sitting outside the church wondering where we've all gone!

History: Tell me about the Hundred Year’s War.

Used song from CC along with motions below. During the Hundred Years' War, Joan of Arc and King Charles VII led the French to defeat England at the Battle of Orleans.  In the late 1340s, fleas on rats carried the Plague, which killed one out of three Europeans.

Let’s go on an eating tour of some EUROPEAN CITIES. We’ll start with some tea in LONDON. Then we’ll go to PARIS for some cheese. A big pizza is waiting for us in ROME. We’ll have a seafood dinner in BARCELONA, and have bon-bons for dessert in ORLEANS.

Journeymen Cycle 2 Week 4

Greetings Everyone!
This is our new forum for sharing a summary and the resources from Monday's class. If for some reason you are unable to access anything you need, please don't hesitate to email me with your requests or questions.

We had a SPLENDID time this week! Everyone was back and FULL of energy! I LOVE that!

The Science Experiments were SO much fun! We learned a lot about friction and gravity and inertia! We talked about why one God put the planets in place and set them in motion they have just continued to move.....ask them why? See if they remember!

The Abstract art project turned out SO nicely! Any of you who have kiddos that took them home to complete - PLEASE make sure they come back as I'd love to display them at our Christmas program - they were quite beautiful!

New Grammar

             We used the CC song and he following hand motions

Rue the Raccoon wanted to swim the EUROPEAN RIVERS.  She started at the SEINE RIVER, and then swung on some vines on the RHINE RIVER. Next, she visited the ELBE RIVER and the VOLGA RIVER to the north.  She waltzed down the DANUBE RIVER and picked a blue flower for her friend, Po the Platypus, who lived on the PO RIVER.

English:  Nominative Pronouns
We sang this little beauty to "The Chicken Dance" complete with the dances moves! Fun, fun, fun!

           

Latin Verbs - 1st Conjugation: Imperfect Tense
We just sang this along with the tunes from C3 and used a great visual reminder for pronunciation.

Math: Skip Counting the 7s and 8s
We used the songs from C3 and did the twist with the 7s (Frere Jacques) and just clapped atthe right spot for the 8s (If You're Happy and You Know It)

Science: The Natural Cycles
Sang this to "Whistle While You Work" and did the listed hand motions.

What are the natural cycles? The Natural Cycles …

Water Cycle	Raise arm. Move wiggling fingers down like rain.  Then, “draw” a circle.
Nitrogen Cycle	“Sleeping” night hands OR “Play” with dirt.  “Draw” a circle.
Carbon & Oxygen Cycle	Use your pointer finger to show oxygen going in, then move it out to show carbon dioxide going out.  “Draw” a circle.

Almost everyone had a folder today which helped SO much more with time management than I can express to you! Thank you SO much!

And snack was just THAT! Not a buffet! Hooray! Really helped with the timing and attention for Presentations! They did a FABULOUS job with eye contact! Ask them about the "Googley Eyes"!

Next week's presentation topic suggestion is their favorite Bible verse or story.
The Skill is ARTICULATION so that they can be understood clearly.
