Cycle 2 Week 7

Hello Everyone! What another great meeting we had!

Today we kicked off our 6 week long Music Theory Study which utilizes the ever-popular
TIN WHISTLE!

A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Kershner for leading us in today's lesson!
For those of you who may have missed it, I was BLOWN AWAY by how wonderful they sounded when they played together! Seriously, four years in with CC and this was the first time that I heard actual music and melody on the very FIRST day! Bravo to you guys!

I want to send out another big thank you to Mr. Herson for yet another fabulous science lesson! What a cool scale model of the Solar System we got to  make today - everyone was really into it!

We had a great time during presentations guessing what could be in those bags. As they have become more comfortable with each other, their presentations have steadily improved. We will keep working on refining them as we proceed.

Next week's topic : Share with us a book you are reading.
The Skill Focus is: Gestures: Use body movements to enhance your presentation.

OK - so now, on to the New Grammar......

Cycle 2 Week 6

What another great session we had yesterday! I know I keep saying that - but I truly mean it!

I think though that my FAVORITE part was presentations - and while not everyone shared jokes with us, and those were really great presentations too, the jokes were my hands-down favorite - just really funny, funny stuff! Its so good to laugh, no?

And on that topic, next week's suggested topic is:"Show-n-Tell Surprise!"
This one is always BIG fun! The kiddos bring something in a paper bag, describe it to their peers and see if anyone can guess what it is.
The skill we will be focusing on is Expression: Make you voice interesting by varying your tone and volume and using pauses to enhance your presentation.

We finished up our art unit today and I really loved the final projects - they really understand how to create depth and perspective in drawings now and how to utilize upside-down drawing, mirror imaging and abstract techniques in their drawings and when rendering. I'll be choosing their best pieces for the Christmas program display and then returning the others too you shortly.

So, on to what we covered yesterday and the resources....
