Journeymen, Cycle 2 Week 10

Hi Everyone!
Sliding in here waaaay late this week – don’t know where the time went!
I apologize if it was an inconvenience for anyone, but no one wrote and said “Hey! Where’s the stuff??” so I’m guessing you are all taking it a little slower, just like us J

We had a really nice time of prayer together followed by some really awesome cleaning….so nice to see their servants hearts for this church!.

The Skill: I think still working on using everything we’ve practiced - Confidence, Eye Contact, Volume, Articulation, Poise , Expression, Gestures, Tempo.

Tin Whistle: We have officially chosen to play Away in a Manger for the Christmas Program – PLEASE have the kids practice – some of the finger/key changes are tricky…but they were doing BEAUTIFULLY on Monday!

Week 10: Tell me about the history of Russia. (Timeline Cards 68 & 90)

Vladimir I brought Christianity to Russia in the 900s. In the late 1400s, Czar Ivan the Great built the Kremlin in Moscow.  Catherine the Great expanded and westernized Russia in the late 1700s.

Week 10: What are the phases of the moon?

Using your left hand, put your hand flat against the “C” of the other hand

Geography:
This week we learned about the Southwest Asia and took a magic carpet ride!
As usual I had a story, this time involving Aladdin and Jasmine, but I also brought along a song to go with it in case the kiddos had a preference - We sang along to “Livin La Vida Loca”  on C3 lbbcyouthpastor )

Aladdin and Jasmine wanted to honeymoon in SOUTHWEST ASIA. They flew on their magic carpet over AFGHANISTAN and PAKISTAN and landed in INDIA. Jasmine wanted to get her hair cut in CALCUTTA before picking out some fine china in CHINA.

Journeymen Cycle 2 Week 9

Hi Everyone!
I know I say this every week, but its true!
We had another fabulous time yesterday! 
The Sunprints Experiment, led by the amazing Mr. Herson (they really do hang on his every word!) was a BIG hit - the kids really were amazed by the whole process.

Presentations are showing some really fine progress - they are becoming more and more comfortable speaking in front of their peers.

Next week's presentation topic: Recite a short poem 
The Skill: Bringing it all together - Confidence, Eye Contact, Volume, Articulation, Poise 
Expression, Gestures, Tempo.

Tin Whistle: We learned the first FOUR notes for Away in a Manger! I know that doesn't sound like much, but truly - they learned to play it TOGETHER...and they did a wonderful job of it! PLEASE, print the tablature that emailed last week and have them practice during the week. There truly is not enough time for them to learn it well during our sessions alone. If you didn't receive it for some reason, please email me and I'll get it to you straight away.

Between the 1500s-1700s, Henry VIII of England, Louis XIV of France, Phillip II of Spain, Peter the Great of Russia, and Frederick the Great of Prussia ruled during the age of absolute monarchs.

Motion to the right for 1500s and the left for 1700s

H-hand. Hold up 8 fingers. Right hand clasps little finger side of left palm-down A-hand and shakes as if shaking a hand. (England)
Louis XIV of France
L-hand. Put fingers on top of head, wiggle the fingers as you move down the sides of your hair for “fancy hair.” Near the ear, the F-hand begins with palm inward and is twisted outward.
