Journeymen, Cycle 2 Week 16

Hello CC-ers!
Hi everyone! So grand to see you all after the break!

Science was a moving experience this week as we looked at the concept of how shape effects speed - so much fun!

This week we studied one of my personal favorites, Monet, in our Great Artists series and we spent some time "dab" painting wonderful landscapes in the style of the artist himself...the results truly were fabulous! And once again, they were really engaged in the process.

Presentations are continuing to improve. We are still working on the "figit factor" when we are in front of the group. Everyone continues to keep their sense of humor about it too :-D

Week 16: Tell me about how WWII began (Timeline Card 141)
World War II began in 1939 when Hitler invaded Poland.  Two engagements that helped the U.S. win the Pacific front were the Battle of Midway and dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

A Verb:
A VERB is a word that asserts an action, shows a state of being, links two words together or helps another verb.

Week 16: What is Newton's 1st Law of Motion? An object at rest tends to remain at rest and an object in motion tends to continue moving in a straight line at constant speed, unless an outside force acts upon it.

Sign an “o” then put hands together and “fall asleep.”
          Obj. in motion… straight line
Extend right arm out to your side, sign an “o,” move toward you in a straight line at a constant speed.
           Force acts upon it
Raise left hand and pretend the “o” crashes into the hand (“wall”).

My old greasy car went zigzagging in the BALKANS. It started leaking grease in GREECE, and developed beetle-mania in ALBANIA.  It stopped at a parking area in BULGARIA, and then went on to meet a nice new Yugo in former YUGOSLAVIA.  It ended up breaking down while roaming the roads in ROMANIA.

Journeymen, Cycle 2 Week 15

Hello CC-ers!
So sorry to be sliding in here so late - been a bit of sickness in the household slowing things down a bit.
And though we were working with a skeleton crew on Tuesday, we still had a wonderful time!!
Remember though - we don't meet again until the 24th!

Science really brought music to our ears this week - with our water organ - so neat to here how sound waves move differently through water. And a BIG thank you to Mrs. Thompson for that amazing milk demonstration! Made me want to go home and make tie-dyed t-shirts!

This week we studied Gainsborough in our Great Artists series and we spent some time painting wonderful landscapes and then popping little people into them - just like the artist himself...the results truly were fabulous! And once again, they were really engaged in the process.

Continuing with our great artist's study, next we will be studying Monet! One of my personal favorites!

Imperative
Pound your fist on your other palm then add the pop noise for the dot (period)
Exclamatory
Hands to side; jump up & make a rocket sound (!)

Patty the Persian cat visited her friends in the MIDDLE EAST.  First, she stopped by her former home of PERSIA (IRAN).  She crawled through a crack in IRAQ to see her cousin in KUWAIT and then her sister in SYRIA.  She took a boat to CYPRUS to visit her brother, and then they all went up to TURKEY for Thanksgiving.
